Summary of Report Writting Procedure
1. Quote the full name of the player, his/her shirt number and his/her club, the competition, venue, competing teams and date.
2. State clearly the OFFENCE for which the player was cautioned or dismissed.
3. Remember that the INCIDENT states clearly what happened. Do not confuse the OFFENCE with the INCIDENT.
4. It may be helpful to state in your report the time at which the incident occurred and where it occurred.
5. Use the Law Book to check spelling. Get the assistance of a senior colleague to read the report to ensure that someone who was not present can clearly understand the incident.
6. Take two photocopies of the report. The original goes to the governing league or competition and you keep the remaining copies on file for future reference.
7. Each Incident requiring a report must have a separate repprt, even if the same player or official is involved.
A report well written will mean
a) There is less likelihood of injustice occurring
b) You have completed your duty to the governing body
c) Your standards and those of your colleagues have been enhanced.
