Specimen Reports
Example 1 - Violent Conduct
In the 75h minute of the game, I disallowed a goal by Ragball Rovers because one of their players had clearly obstructed the opposing goalkeeper. I was immediately surrounded by protesting players of Ragball Rovers when their number 8, Bryan Fields placed his hand on my shoulder and pushed me to the ground I dismissed him from the field of play for violent conduct.
Example 2 - Violent Conduct
During the closing stages of the game, St. Patrick's were awarded a corner kick from which they scored. As I ran backwards from the penalty area, I saw No.14 Paddy McGrath, Ragball Rovers goalkeeper, deliberately and violently kick his team mate No. 5, Dermot Kennedy, on the leg following a heated exchange of words between them over who caused the goal. I dismissed No. 14 Paddy McGrath Ragball Rovers goalkeeper.
Example 3 - Violent Conduct
During the second half I awarded a corner kick to St. Patrick's. The kick was taken and as the Ragball Rovers Goalkeeper Paddy McGrath attempted to catch the ball in flight, the St. Patrick's No. 9, Christy Boyd jumped into the goalkeeper who fell to the ground. Almost at once, a number of Ragball Rovers players ran up to the St. Patrick's number 9 followed by players from St. Patrick’s and a general melee followed. As I attempted to restore order I saw the following players from St. Patrick's throwing punches: No. 9 Christy Boyd, No. 4 Dennis Cruise, Number 8 Brendan Pidgeon. I also saw the following players from Ragball Rovers throwing punches Number 14, Paddy McGrath, Number 6 John McDermott. When order was restored, I promptly dismissed all five players.
Example 4 : Serious Foul Play
During the closing minutes of the game, the Number 10 of Ragball Rovers deliberately struck an opponent with his elbow for which he was instantly sent off for serious foul play [violent conduct, ISRS Dublin]. The injured player needed medical attention as blood was clearly visible and he was immediately substituted. The incident took place about 10 yards from where I was standing and I had a clear and uninterrupted view.
Example 5 - Serious Foul Play
I had cause to dismiss the above named player Bryan Fields of Ragball Rovers for serious foul play because in the 32nd minute he deliberately handled a goal bound shot from underneath his own crossbar. This denied an obvious goal to his opponents.
Example 6 - Serious Foul Play
In the closing stages of the first half, the above named player Paddy McGrath, deliberately tripped an opponent in a high and very late tackle in the vicinity of the opponents thigh. In my opinion this tackle constituted foul play of a most serious nature. From my position about 12 yards away, I had a clear view of the offence and only my rapid intervention prevented retaliation by colleagues of the injured player.
Example 7 - Offensive, insulting, abusive language
During the second half of the game the above named player Tony Martin of St. Patrick's appealed in vain for a free kick following a challenge by an opponent which in my opinion was fair. Realising that no free kick had been awarded the player ran up to me and shouted "You're nothing but a blind c..t" I dismissed him from the field of play.
Example 8 - Offensive, insulting, abusive language
In the 23rd minute of the game, I dismissed the No. 8 of Ragball Rovers Dermot Kennedy who directed the following words at an opponent who had tackled him unfairly "You f…ing black pri..k". I promptly dismissed him form the field of play. As I directed him to the dressing room he shouted “you're only a fu..king cheat."
Example 9 - Offensive, insulting, abusive language
In the last minute of the second half of extra tune, I awarded a goal to Ragball Rovers although some members of the St. Patrick's team were of the opinion that the goal was offside. As the defenders walked towards the half way line to resume the game I distinctly heard the above named player No. 3 Dick Redmond of St. Patrick's say to my assistant referee John Scanlon, “you f..king cheat. You're nothing but a cheating bastard.” I dismissed him from the field of play.
Example 10 - 2nd caution
In the 65th minute, I cautioned the number 11 Ragball Rovers because he had deliberately tripped an opponent in a late and provocative tackle which I considered to be
ungentle manly conduct [unsporting behaviour, ISRS Dublin]. Since I had already cautioned the same player in the first half for dissent, I dismissed him from the field of play.
Example 11 - Misconduct after a match
I have to report that as I was returning to my car at the end of the game, the trainer of Ragball Rovers approached me and said "that's the worst exhibition of refereeing I've ever seen, you're a f..king disgrace". I made no response whatsoever, and enquired his name. He replied "F..k off'. I informed him that this incident would be reported to the League.
Example 12 - Misconduct during a match
I have to report that during the match between the two teams named above, I had cause to inform the trainer of Ragball Rovers Mr. Bernard Buckley that he was being reported to the League since he chose to ignore my advice not to use language likely to incite his players to commit serious foul play such as "break his bl..dy leg" (referring to an opponent) and offering comments in a loud manner “you must be f..king joking" and “f..king hell...no way", when I made a decision against his team.
